This will act as some sort of diary of ours for the recording of our new record. Should be fun.......

This weekend we began the 2nd (or 3rd) session for recording of our new record, 'The Quiet Lamb'. Gophie wasn't here with us as she was busy partying for Tim's (our sound engineer) birthday in Leeds.
Adam and Mike live in a huge house in Leicester. We found that the landing at the top of the stairs had a great sound to it and recorded the drums there. We recorded the bass, guitar and drums live with the amps in other rooms. I'm a big believer in the three channel option for the bass recording. SM57 on the cab, DI out of the back and a bass drum mic on the sub. Sounds lovely when blended. I built a new valve amp recently so I used that this weekend with a nice C414 borrowed from Thom's work.
So the five of us carried on as we normally would, with a ton of cider (bitter for tom) and whatever else we could get our hands on.
Luckily, because Adam and Thom work at a University, we are able to borrow lots of great microphones that we wouldn't normally be able to have. Lots of nice C414's and Neumann mics. Good stuff!
Tesco local fail for only having a limited selection of alcohol and shitty vegetarian sushi.
Two more tracks recorded as well as the 4th part of The Union. It's a fucking beast.
Adam and Mikes landlord died during the weekend also, so cue the cursed record theories now.
Photos highlight Thom's unwillingness to wear shoes or socks even outside, and my ridiculously angular chin that is often mocked by the rest band.
A set up of controlled chaos. Two Motus, one 8 channel pre amp and a Yamaha desk. Note the porn under the desk. A must for any recording session.
